При создании работ для обеих частей книги American Color Константин Манос (Constantine Manos), фотограф агентства Magnum Photos, использовал любимую Leica и цветную фотоплёнку Kodachrome 64. Серия American Color 1, снятая между 1982 и 1994 годами, стала первой цветной серией фотографа. На протяжении всей своей карьеры до этого он фотографировал только на чёрно-белую плёнку и, собственно, стал любим и знаменит именно благодаря чб. По словам фотографа, на момент создания первого 'Американского Цвета' у него было что-то вроде кризиса, когда он не знал, куда ему двигаться дальше в своём творчестве. В то время он понял, что больше не может заниматься чёрно-белой фотографией и начал искать непривычные для себя сюжеты. Так, в течение нескольких лет, между коммерческими съёмками, в путешествиях, на различных публичных событиях, на 'общественной территории' ('public domain'), как он сам любит выражаться, фотографируя средний класс американцев впервые на цветную плёнку, Коста нащупал новый язык своего визуального выражения. Впоследствии появившаяся вторая часть American Color 2 датируется уже 2010 годом и, по словам самого автора, появилась только благодаря тому, что ему так понравилась работа над первой частью, что он просто не смог остановиться. Color Film and the Americans by Constantine Manos. When creating his works for both parts of the American Color book, Constantine Manos, a Magnum Photos photographer, cooperated with his beloved Leica and Kodachrome 64 color reversal film. The American Color 1 series, shot between 1982 and 1994, became the photographer’s first color series ever. Throughout his career before that, he photographed only on black and white film and, in fact, became loved and famous precisely thanks to bw. According to the photographer's words, at the time when first 'American Color' was started, he had something like a crisis when he did not know where to move on in his work. At that time he realized that he could no longer go on black-and-white photography and began to look for unusual stories. So for several years, between commercial shootings, while traveling, at various public events, on the 'public domain', as he himself calls it, photographing the 'middle class' of Americans for the first time on color film, Konstantin felt he found a new language for his visual expression. American Color 2 which appeared lately, dates back to 2010 and, according to the author himself, saw the light only because he enjoyed the work on the first part so much that he simply could not stop.
